Founded in Beijing in 2012, Dabo Lang is a trend-setting pioneering electronic band in China. Endowed with both an international vision and local cultural roots, the band stands as innovators who boldly redefine the aesthetic boundaries of electronic music through groundbreaking sound design and avant-garde artistic expressions.
They ingeniously blend the retro charm of new wave and the futuristic vibe of techno-electronic sounds, forging a highly distinctive signature style. Their works move nimbly across synth-pop, industrial dance music and experimental electronics. Adhering to the creative philosophy that balances sophisticated sound engineering with intense emotional tension, they create immersive soundscapes full of pulsating rhythms that captivate all listeners completely.
Since its establishment, Dabo Lang has released seven albums, namely The Big Wave, Blue Face, New Logic, More Than One Side, Live Soundtrack in 2023, Welcome to the Inner World and Circus. Over years of evolution and exploration, the band has incorporated diverse musical elements into its original new wave and synth-driven style, forming a unique musical core that is unmistakably their own.
Dabo Lang’s live performances deeply integrate dramatic stage narratives with cutting-edge audio-visual technologies, constructing a subversive sensory theater. On stage, precise technical control collides fiercely with impromptu energy, and together with a conceptual visual symbol system, it creates a stunning on-site aesthetic. This pioneering stance has made them a phenomenal act sought after by major music festivals across China. Having conquered top domestic festivals including Strawberry Music Festival, Midi Music Festival and Wheat Field Music Festival, Dabo Lang, as a Chinese band with a highly international style, is also the only Chinese band ever invited to perform at Germany’s Cologne Music Festival. They have also graced the stages of Serbia’s Exit Festival and the UK’s The Great Escape Festival. In July 2020, the band participated in the music variety show The Big Band Season 2 and secured the fourth place. Guided by a spirit of bold and avant-garde exploration, they keep pushing the boundaries of electronic music, reach deep into the innermost hearts of listeners amidst the surging synths to resonate with them, continuously expand the horizon of art and shape a new paradigm for contemporary youth culture.
